Cakes for Causes

Throughout this month, the Mothers’ Union will be selling home made cakes after the morning Eucharist.  Please support them.  You know it is for a good cause, and you know the cakes will be excellent.  If you have any 5p pieces the MU would be glad of them.

Lindsy and Stephen

Are getting married on Thursday 26th. June at Rowton Castle, and will be having their marriage blessed in church on Sunday 29th. at 1.00 p.m.  They extend a warm invitation to everyone to come along to that service to share their joy.

Toy Service – Today at 4.00 p.m.

Please come along and tell any children you know that this is especially for them.  There will be no 6.00 p.m. service this evening.

Day of Prayer – Saturday 28th. June from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.

There are two lists in church.  One is for people to sign to commit themselves to being in the church in half hourly slots so that we can be open and offering prayer all day.  The other is for items, people or situations you would like us to pray for.  Please come along to support this day of prayer for our parish and our church.  It doesn’t matter how long you can stay for, it is being here and praying that matters.  There will be short, informal acts of shared worship at 10.00, 12.00, 2.00 and 4.00.  If you would like to lead one of these, please have a word with Fr. David.

Summer Fair – Saturday 12th July 2.00 to 4.00pm in Turreff Hall

If you can help in any way please sign the list in church.  Raffle tickets are still available in church.  Please sign the list by the raffle tickets to say how many books you have taken, and then sell, sell, sell.  Offers of raffle prizes will be very welcome.  Please let Janet Middleton have any prize items, as well as sold ticket counterfoils and money by the end of this month.  Many thanks.

July Walsingham Mass

The next Mass of Our Lady of Walsingham will be on Thursday 3rd. July at 7.00 p.m. in church.  Please come along.  The August Walsingham Mass will be a sung Mass on Friday 15th. (the feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary).  Our guest preacher for that service will be Fr. David Smith.

Thursday Mornings

As from Thursday 4th. September, we will be holding a 10.00 a.m. Eucharist in church every Thursday, followed by coffee.  Not only will this give us another chance to worship, it will also mean the church being open regularly during the week so that people can come in and feel at home.  Please consider whether you might commit yourself to coming along to be part of this new opportunity for worship and outreach.

Confirmation

This year’s confirmation service will be conducted by the Bishop of Shrewsbury here at St. Matthew’s on St. Matthew’s Day – Sunday 21st. September at 10.00 a.m.  If you are 10 or over and would like to be confirmed (or if you would just like to know more), please see Fr. David so that we can arrange preparation sessions at a convenient time.  There will also be a special evening service on that day.

David Martin’s funeral service will be here in church on Monday 30th. June at 1.30 p.m.

followed by committal at Telford Crematorium.
